Oh man, another day filled with meetings. In a way, this is one way that remote work is distinctly different — at the office, I’m probably involved in a lot of small, informal meetings throughout the day. But I’d hardly call them “meetings” because of how casually they happen. Like I might see a colleague in the kitchen and we’d exchange updates on a certain user story. Or I might pass by a colleague in our aisle, and we’d have a 5-minute pair programming session to iron out small questions about our code.

Now, every meeting is surrounded by a virtual barrier: the fact that we have to sign into a video call, and sign out. In a way, it does make transitioning from one meeting to the next seamless. But I feel like something’s lost. I guess there’s tradeoffs to everything…
