Today, I’m grateful for
- Snagging a last-minute spot at PK’s yoga class tonight. My favorite yoga instructors at Pac Pipe and Great Western are PK and Hilary. But their classes are so popular that they almost instantly fill up when reservations open 24 hours in advance.
So when I realized that I missed his slot yet again and that my backup class at Great Western wasn’t happening tonight, I was kinda bummed.
But when I checked at 6:08pm today, just 22 minutes before PK’s class, I was surprised to see that a spot had opened up! Hooray! - Catching up with Ashley after class. Hearing that she’s joined Lizzie’s Hella Bae Run Club. I’m partly writing this now because after I posted my last public journal entry, she replied — she and apparently some others actually reads my hot takes lol. The biggest news for me was that, despite her previously saying that she wasn’t going to start running, she started running with a group whose founder I used to run weekly with! What a small world!
- Catching up with Chris and Elon (of Cool Climbers). Now that RDL is only 5 weeks away, I’m not climbing as much. Still, it was nice to see and chat with climbing buddies Chris before yoga, and both Chris and Elon after class (when they finished up their lead session). I’d like to be as strong as they are this time next year — cleanly leading high 12’s (at least indoors): I have a long way to go.
On another note: it turns out that 3 other Cool Climbers are currently climbing in Mexico! I’ve not really considered Mexico a prime climbing destination, but now it’s climbing up (no pun intended) my list of places I want to run, climb and bike… - Catching up with Jared. Out of the remaining familiar faces I saw tonight, Jared was perhaps the most notable. For some time, I was worried that he’d be yet another friend who’d move away from the Bay this year. So I was glad he landed another job for the next year.
- Excitement about the next month
- This week: A 35-mile mixed road-trail run. An annual tradition.
- This weekend, 9/27-9/29: I’ll be hosting some friends from LA. I’ll still try to run around 50 trail miles if time allows.
- Weekend of 10/11-13: I’ll see (and run) the Backbone Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains for the first time (with Sean)!
- Sunday, 10/20-10/22: I’ll see (and run) around the Channel Islands NP for the first time (with my sister!)
- Weekend of 11/2-3: RDL100
